Want Books: The Hollow Kingdom

Want Books? is a weekly meme hosted here at Chachic’s Book Nook and features released books that you want but you can’t have for some reason. It can be because it’s not available in your country, in your library or you don’t have the money for it right now. Everyone is free to join, just grab the image above. Leave a comment with a link to your post so I can do a roundup with each post.

The Hollow KingdomBeauty and the Beast is my favorite fairy tale and I’m a sucker for retellings of this timeless classic. I knew I had to read The Hollow Kingdom by Clare B. Dunkle as soon as I found out that it’s a fantasy B&B retelling. Beauty by Robin McKinley is the B&B retelling that I love the most and I’m always on the lookout for novels similar to that. Frankly, I’m a little surprised that it took me this long to hear about this book – I became aware of it when my good friend Heidi mentioned that she loved it. I checked this book’s Goodreads page and saw that several other blogger friends have enjoyed reading this. Looks like I need to read it sooner rather than later.

Here’s the summary from Goodreads:

For thousands of years, young women have been vanishing from Hallow Hill, never to be seen again. Now Kate and Emily have moved there with no idea of the land’s dreadful heritage – until Marak decides to tell them himself. Marak is a powerful magician who claims to be the goblin king, and he has very specific plans for the two new girls who have trespassed into his kingdom…

What about you, what book is at the top of your wishlist? What’s your favorite fairy tale? Do you also enjoy reading fairy tale retellings?
