Want Books: The Dragonfly Summer

Want Books? is a weekly meme hosted here at Chachic’s Book Nook and features released books that you want but you can’t have for some reason. It can be because it’s not available in your country, in your library or you don’t have the money for it right now. Everyone is free to join, just grab the image above. Leave a comment with a link to your post so I can do a roundup with each post.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets by Eva Rice so I looked up her other books. I saw The Dragonfly Summer and it says in some websites that it was published in 2008 but I couldn’t find copies anywhere. It’s not available in The Book Depository or Amazon. I wonder what happened to this book? It seems really interesting.

Here’s the summary from Goodreads:

Set at the end of the 1950s and leading into the Swinging Sixties, THE DRAGONFLY SUMMER is about Tara Jupp, a shy vicar’s daughter from a small English village. Tara’s beautiful voice is her passport to fame and riches. It means leaving her beloved, chaotic family and the small village where she grew up – but will it bring her what she wants? With a rich cast of characters, a sweet but determined heroine, and the sometimes exhilirating, sometimes nostalgic world of England in the early Sixties, THE DRAGONFLY SUMMER is proof once again that Eva Rice’s beautiful, absorbing books are must-reads.

What about you, what book is on your wishlist?

    • Holly, I hope you do add Eva Rice’s books to your TBR pile. 🙂 I remember you left a comment in my review of The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets. That book was recommended by Ari. Aww I miss Ari and her blog.

  1. A friend of mine contacted the publisher. Apparently Eva is “still under contract”, which means she hasn’t finished the book but they’d still like to publish. DYING to read it. LAoKS is one of my favourite books of all time and I’ve read all her older books. Hope she finishes writing it one day!

    • Hey, thanks for dropping by to let me know about that! I was starting to think that I was the only one interested in this book. I’m going to check out the rest of Eva Rice’s backlist while waiting for this book to come out.

Comments are like chocolate. :) Maraming salamat / thank you!
