Want Books: Hot Summer Nights

Want Books? is a weekly meme hosted here at Chachic’s Book Nook and features released books that you want but you can’t have for some reason. It can be because it’s not available in your country, in your library or you don’t have the money for it right now. Everyone is free to join, just grab the image above. Leave a comment with a link to your post so I can do a roundup with each post.

I’ve talked about the Love Stories series on my blog several times and I’ve also mentioned that my favorites are the ones by Elizabeth Chandler – I Do and At First Sight. I even wrote a Retro Friday review of I Do a couple of weeks ago. Elizabeth Chandler has another book in the series called Hot Summer Nights and for some reason, I missed out on reading this. I’ve asked several friends who also collected the series back when we were teenagers if they have this and none of them do. It’s out of print so it’s not that easy to find a copy. I guess I’ll just have to look for a used copy somewhere. Look at the cover, it looks so old school, doesn’t it? 🙂

Here’s the summary from Goodreads:

Carly McFarlane needs to find a guy…for someone else! Her plan is guaranteed to stop flirty Heather from going after every boy Carly dates: She’ll snare the perfect match for Heather, and then find her own true love.

Carly thinks funny, athletic Jack Ryder is the ideal guy for Heather. But as soon as she sees them together, Carly knows she’s made a big mistake. Will she help her friend hang on to this major hunk… or will she steal him for herself?

What about you, what’s on your wishlist?

    • It’s funny how old school the cover looks like now. Imagine, we used to dress like that when we were teenagers! 😛 I haven’t seen a copy in any of the used book stores that I frequent. 😦 I’m thinking of ordering a used copy abroad.

Yay, thanks for making a Want Books post. I’ve included it in the roundup.

    • Chris, I’ve been wanting to read this for the longest time but I only remembered the book when we started talking about our favorites back when we were younger. 🙂 Is this one as good as I Do and At First Sight?

Thanks for making a Want Books post! I included it in the roundup.

  1. Hi, just dropping by via Tina’s book blog.

Love Stories used to be my teenage staples after my favorite series, Sweet Dreams, were phased out during the late 90s. Except for one book by Janet Quin-Harkin, I have the complete set of Love STories books (excluding the special trilogies and editions).

If you’re looking for this title, I suggest looking for it on eBay or some Multiply sites. I almost always see copies of it from my favorite online sellers, from whom I buy old books. If you want, I’ll keep an eye peeled out for a copy and give you a heads-up when I come across one. 🙂

    • Hey Monique, thanks for dropping by! I also collected the Love Stories series back when I was in high school. I enjoyed reading about teenage romance back then. I’ve already looked in eBay and the Multiply sellers that I have in my contact list but it’s not available. Really, you see copies of this from the sellers that you know? I already asked Celina to order a used copy for me from Better World Books.

      • Last time I saw a copy was at nicajan’s Multiply site, is she in your contacts list? I know Celina also from Multiply but I think I haven’t bought any books from her yet. Anyway, if I do come across another copy, I’ll let you know. 🙂

Comments are like chocolate. :) Maraming salamat / thank you!
