Want Books? is a weekly meme hosted here at Chachic’s Book Nook and features released books that you want but you can’t have for some reason. So many people have been recommending the Dresden Files and I’ve been hesitant to give it a try because I want to trim down my TBR first. There are 11 books out in this series and more are due in the coming years so I don’t want to commit just yet. However, some book blogger friends have said that this series is actually as good as my favorite urban fantasy series – the Kate Daniels books – so I’m curious. For now, I’ve added the first book to my wishlist. If you’ve read the books in the series, feel free to leave a comment and tell me what you think of them.
Here’s the summary for the first book, Storm Front, from Jim Butcher’s website:
Harry Dresden is the best at what he does. Well, technically, he’s the only at what he does. So when the Chicago P.D. has a case that transcends mortal creativity or capability, they come to him for answers. For the “everyday” world is actually full of strange and magical things – and most of them don’t play well with humans. That’s where Harry comes in. Takes a wizard to catch a – well, whatever.
There’s just one problem. Business, to put it mildly, stinks. So when the police bring him in to consult on a grisly double murder committed with black magic, Harry’s seeing dollar signs. But where there’s black magic, there’s a black mage behind it. And now that mage knows Harry’s name. And that’s when things start to get… interesting.
Magic. It can get a guy killed.
What about you, what’s on your wishlist? 🙂
