BBAW First Treasure

This is the first time that I joined BBAW so instead of writing about a blog that I discovered since BBAW last year, I’m going to write about two of the first book blogs that I started following. Two blogs because I can’t remember which of them I started following first although I do know that I started checking out their blogs even before I started my own blog and even before I discovered the wonder that is Google Reader. This first one is Angieville by Angie.

Angie’s blog is chock-full of great content. Whenever she writes a good review of a book, I’m tempted to get that book right away. She reads a lot of fantasy and YA and we share some favorite authors such as Robin McKinley, Megan Whalen Turner, Tamora Pierce, Kristin Cashore and many more. Ever since I started following Angie’s blog, I’ve been introduced to other amazing authors like Sharon Shinn, Juliet Marillier and Ilona Andrews. I also love her meme, Retro Fridays which highlights under-the-radar books. I try to participate in that meme as much as I can. Plus, Angie is such a nice person, you can’t help but admire her! She’s one of my favorite bloggers out there and I always trust her recommendations.

The second blog that I followed early on is The Book Smugglers by Ana and Thea.

I think The Book Smugglers is a pretty popular blog with a huge following, mainly because they have so many fun activities over there. Both Ana and Thea seem like they’re always full of energy and whenever they give a book a high rating, you can really feel their enthusiasm coming off the computer screen. What’s amazing is that they both reading different types of books (like Ana likes romances but Thea doesn’t) but they enjoy doing joint reviews, which I like reading because they’re voices are so distinct.

So there you have it, folks – the two blogs that I first started following. I’m curious to see which blogs are featured in other people’s BBAW First Treasure posts.

    • Hey Judith, thanks for dropping by! Oh I’m glad you started following The Book Smugglers but I think you should also follow Angieville. 🙂 Be prepared to add a lot of other blogs in your reader because I think that’s the goal of BBAW. So excited to see what other blogs will be featured in BBAW’s First Treasure.

  1. I hadn’t heard of Angieville before, but it looks really nice! Definitely added to my reader. As is your blog btw, because I hadn’t visited it before and I can’t believe I missed it thus far 🙂

    • Hey Iris, you really should follow Angieville! It’s a great blog. 🙂 Thanks for dropping by and checking out my First Treasure post. I have a feeling all of us will be adding a lot of blogs to our readers.

  2. Aw, Chachic….

Thank you so much!! I love it when you participate in Retro Friday and I look forward to your reviews each day, eager to find out what you thought and why.

I can’t wait for the new Shinn and Marillier books coming out this fall!! There will be much squeeing….

    • Angie, I love doing Retro Friday posts! I always try to think of books that I could feature for those books. Thank you for dropping by my blog frequently and leaving comments. 🙂 I think it’s obvious that I’m such a fan of your blog because I usually go after books that you recommend.

Yes, so excited for both Shinn and Marillier! 🙂

  3. Wait…a new Shinn? *googling*

I think The Book Smugglers are also one of the best written blogs out there. Their reviews are always so thorough and capture the books themselves so well.

    • I think I also started following about a year ago! I remember it was the latter part of the year because it was early this year that I decided to start my own book blog.

  4. I love the booksmugglers too and I’m still getting to know angie but she has a lot of cool stuff going on her blog. I might participate on her retro friday pretty soon. I got one book in my tbr that falls under those categories of books. 🙂

    • I know you like YA and fantasy and Angie reads a lot of those so it’s not surprising that you’ll find something that you’ll like in her blog. Oh yay, I love Retro Fridays.

  5. Aww, thanks Chachic! And I just recently discovered your blog (thanks to Angie), and am loving it as well. *splashes happily in lovefest pool*

And yes, love for the new Sharon Shinn!

    • Hey Thea, thanks for stopping by! LOL at the lovefest pool. I love Angie’s blog and I was surprised that she mentioned my blog in her First Treasure post.

Oooh you’re also a Sharon Shinn fan! I have to finish reading the Samaria books so I can start on the Twelve Houses series.

Comments are like chocolate. :) Maraming salamat / thank you!
