Want Books: The President’s Daughter Series

Want Books? is a weekly meme hosted here at Chachic’s Book Nook and features released books that you want but you can’t have for some reason. It can be because it’s not available in your country, in your library or you don’t have the money for it right now. Everyone is free to join, just grab the image above. Leave a comment with a link to your post so I can do a roundup with each post.

This week my pick is another series, which I found out from both Angie of Angieville and Michelle of See Michelle Read. I know that they have raved about this series several times and since I know they have good taste, I have a feeling I’m going to like these books as well. I also met beth_shulman on the Sounis LJ community and she has been convincing me to read the series as well. Okay, this is me caving in to the pressure. Because the books are not available over here, I’ve asked Fully Booked to through their special order service to get these books for me. They say the books will get here in a couple of week’s time.

Here’s the summary for The President’s Daughter from Ellen Emerson White’s website:

Sixteen-year-old Meghan Powers likes her life just the way it is. She likes living in Massachusetts. She likes her school. And she has plenty of friends. But all that is about to change, because Meg’s mother, one of the most prestigious senators in the country, is running for President. And she’s going to win.Now Meg and her whole family have moved to Washington, D.C. to live in their new house–the White House. Meg and her brother are being escorted to school by Secret Service agents, and reporters won’t leave them alone. Meg’s tired of being in the national spotlight. But how can she tell her mother she hates being the President’s daughter?

What about you, what’s on your wishlist? 🙂

    • Who’s the author of Endings? Yes, I’m also looking forward to Mockingjay! You can ask Fully Booked to order the book for you if you want. So you don’t have to pay shipping fees.

      • i meant endings to book series/trilogies. =) which is what both MOCKINGJAY and FRENZY are. last books. =)

i inquired with FB already regarding FRENZY, since i got the first five books from them. but apparently, it’s one of the books that they can’t order for people, because it’s not under the hatchett group of publishers. =/

      • Oh I thought you said you wanted a book called Endings! LOL. I remember you said there was a book that they couldn’t order for you. That’s too bad. 😦 Maybe you can order it online then. Book Depository still doesn’t deliver to the Philippines but you can check out Better World Books.

      • actually, FRENZY is just one of the books they can’t order for me. =) i’ve already ordered a couple online, which i’m waiting for to arrive. FRENZY will be part of my second online shopping cart mid-august, as i need to make sure my credit card can take the hit. =)

so far, july and august have been very big book months for me. haha. i’ve read more in the past month than i did the whole of last year!

      • Wow, it’s great that you’ve read a lot in the past month! Really, Fully Booked couldn’t order a book for you? Good thing that hasn’t happened to me yet. So where do you order your books?

      • back in college, i had a friend who vacations in the united states. so i used to ask her to buy a book or two for me, which i will pay for once she returns. but since graduating, i’m only about to do it now. i ordered off amazon, and an amazon-recommended seller.

both were delivered to my sister’s co-worker who is currently training in the united states. and since she’s returning at the end of the month–i’m finally getting the books i ordered.

i’m going to try better world books as soon as i have the money though. =)

      • I know exactly what you mean! I do the same thing all the time. Whenever there’s someone going to the States for a vacation, my immediate thought is “Can you please get a book for me there?” because so many books are not available here. Although books are a lot more expensive over there, aren’t they? Because you have to pay tax on top of the price. In any case, I’m really glad of the special order service of Fully Booked because it cuts back on my international spending.

Better World Books is good because they sell used copies of books so it comes out cheaper and the shipping is only $3.97 per book. That’s a lot cheaper than let’s say, Amazon.

      • books are more expensive everywhere that’s not the philippines, i’ve learned. i bought a couple in taiwan some years before, and it was the price of three here. i haven’t tried buying in hong kong though, since most bookstores i saw when i was there had chinese books.

i really have to learn to stop going to tourist destinations.

re: BWB shipping; well Amazon has a standard shipping fee of 8-11 dollars. so if you order around 3 books, shipping will be cheaper than BWB. haha. technicalities =) but having ordered DVDs off Amazon, their service is good. it’s just our postal system that’s usually messed up. =)

      • Yes, exactly. Books are more expensive everywhere. I’ve only been to the States and Singapore and books are more expensive there than here. Although I love the used bookstores in the States because they’re so organized and they have a lot of available books.

Amazon increases shipping fees as you add more books to your cart, right? I always thought it worked like that. BWB delivers the books straight to your house so no need to pick it up at the post office and no need to worry that your package will get lost in the local postal system.

  1. I really really want to get Melinda Metz’ Echoes, and Bitter Frost. I saw a copy of Echoes at Fully Booked Eastwood Mall but I’m nearly broke so wasn’t able to buy it (only 360 php). Bitter Frost, I don’t think I’ve seen it in any bookstore I’ve visited, so I might ask Fully Booked to get it for me!

By the way, since I really like your site and I think its wonderful, I’m giving you the Versatile Blogger Award:

    Happy Saturday!

    • I’ll add your books to the roundup. You should’ve had Echoes reserved when you saw it so you could pick it up later on. Aww sayang. You can always ask Fully Booked if they have those books in stock in other branches and you can have them transferred to the branch near you.

Thanks so much for the award! 🙂

    • In your Dashboard, go to Appearance > Widgets and make sure you add Links to your sidebar. After that, you can just add links in the Links option in your Dashboard.

    • I knew you’d react to this post! LOL. Fret not, they’re on their way. The bookstore said they’ve ordered them already and it’ll take four weeks or so to get here. Can’t wait!
