Waiting on Wednesday: Seer of Sevenwaters

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine. WoW posts are about books that you can’t wait to get your hands on.

I haven’t done a Waiting on Wednesday post in a while because it’s similar to my Want Books meme. However, since I just finished reading the first four books in the incredible Sevenwaters series by Juliet Marillier, I decided to post about the next book in the series – Seer of Sevenwaters, due out in December 7.

Here’s the summary from Goodreads:

The young seer Sibeal is visiting an island of elite warriors, prior to making her final pledge as a druid. It’s there she finds Felix, a survivor of a Viking shipwreck, who’s lost his memory. The scholarly Felix and Sibeal form a natural bond. He could even be her soul mate, but Sibeal’s vocation is her true calling, and her heart must answer.

As Felix fully regains his memory, Sibeal has a runic divination showing her that Felix must go on a perilous mission — and that she will join him. The rough waters and the sea creatures they will face are no match for Sibeal’s own inner turmoil. She must choose between the two things that tug at her soul — her spirituality and a chance at love…

Although it’s part of a series, I don’t think readers need to start with the others before reading this one but then again, why miss out on the amazing books that come before this? Let me convince you further, check out my review of Daughter of the Forest, the first in the Sevenwaters series and a retelling of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale entitled Six Swans.

What about you, what book are you waiting for this Wednesday? 🙂

  1. I loved Daughter of the Forest, but haven’t had a chance to read the rest. They are sitting on my shelf though. I totally could read Daughter of the Forest again now, but I might wait until my reading list dwindles a bit. (If that ever happens). I’m really happy that you have been enjoying the series! I can’t wait for this one to come out either! 😀

    • I put off reading Son of the Shadows for a bit because I read other books after Daughter of the Forest but after reading the second Sevenwaters book, I grabbed the next one because I wanted to stay immersed in that world. It really is a wonderful series and I keep recommending it to anyone who’ll listen. Hope you could read Son of the Shadows soon because it’s really good. 🙂 But I do understand your problem of having a huge TBR.

    • Exactly, it has a fascinating mix of just about everything that you’d want in a good book. The worldbuilding is really incredible and I hope you can give it a try.

  2. I had no idea there was going to be a fifth book in the Sevenwaters series! Awesome! 🙂 I really enjoyed the first two books, thought the third was okay, and haven’t picked up the fourth yet. Apparently I need to read the fourth book sometime before December 7th. 🙂 Thanks for featuring this as your WoW pick this week.

    • Violet, you have to read the fourth book! I can understand why you’re hesitant because I didn’t really like the third one as well but the fourth is just as good as the first two. I’m so excited for the fifth one because I want to know more about Sibeal. 🙂

  3. WHAT!? I didn’t even know this was coming out? Have I been hiding under a rock (errr…maybe…but that’s besides the point!). I am definitely adding this one to my list. Thank you for letting me know.

    • Love the reaction! LOL. Isn’t it amazing? We only have two wait a couple of months for the next one to come out. Can’t wait! I liked Sibeal in Heir to Sevenwaters so I’m glad she’s getting her own story. It’s a good thing Juliet Marillier decided to come back to this series.

  4. Oh Chachic!!!! My heart putters just thinking about this lovely series. They truly are something, I just finished “Heir to Sevenwaters” and now that you’ve shown me this I just want to waste away with my pining for it! Oh the travesty!!! I knew the next installment was due December of this year but I hadn’t seen the cover or the blurb thank you, thank you, THANK YOU.

    • Oh you just finished it as well! Isn’t it lovely? I’m so glad I found out about the series when the fourth is already. It’s a good thing I discovered Juliet Marillier because I didn’t realize a lot of fellow book bloggers are fans as well. We just have to wait patiently for December to roll around. We can console ourselves by buying (and reading) other books. 🙂
