Waiting on Wednesday: Matched

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine. WoW posts are about books that you can’t wait to get your hands on.

Yay, it’s Wednesday again, which marks the middle of the week! I’m really looking forward to the end of the week because a long weekend is coming up. πŸ™‚ We’re celebrating the Independence Day of the Philippines. Also, I signed up for my first ever Bloggiesta and I’m excited for that. I already made a to-do list, which hopefully I’ll be able to accomplish.

Anyway, to get back on topic, my WoW pick for today is Matched by Ally Condie due out on November 30. I know this book has gotten a lot of buzz in the blogosphere and several book bloggers were able to grab ARCs at BEA. You guys are so lucky! Here’s the summary from Goodreads:

In the Society, Officials decide. Who you love. Where you work. When you die.

Cassia has always trusted their choices. It’s barely any price to pay for a long life, the perfect job, the ideal mate. So when her best friend appears on the Matching screen, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is the one… until she sees another face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. Now Cassia is faced with impossible choices: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she’s known and a path no one else has ever dared follow β€” between perfection and passion.

Matched is a story for right now and storytelling with the resonance of a classic.

Sounds interesting, right? I think it’s kind of similar to the world of The Giver by Lois Lowry, which was one of my favorites as a kid. What’s your WoW pick for this week? πŸ™‚

    • Oooh I just won an ARC of that! I know that Matched has been the WoW pick of other people, I think that’s how I found out about it and the BEA posts of those who were able to attend.

  1. Tina, hello fellow Filipino blogger! πŸ™‚ Checked out your WoW pick and I’m looking forward to that as well.

Leanna, I know there are a lot of us waiting for this one. I’ll check out your pick in a bit.

Jan, November can’t come soon enough! We’ll probably see reviews of it soon because of the ARCs that bloggers have received.

  2. Wow, this sounds good! I read a book by Ben Elton that kind of sounded like this (only in the part where the government controlled private decisions). I will have to try this one out!

    My WoW is here.

  3. Laurel, I really like the cover as well!

Aimee, I know, the premise is really interesting. I have a feeling this one’s going to be good.

Brizmus, I know, right? Really looks awesome.

Michelle, me too! Want! Jealous of bloggers with ARCs!

Kris, I like your pick as well! I was trying to decide on whether I should choose that or this one.

Joy, that it does. Can’t wait to read it.
