Introduction of sorts

Welcome to Chachic’s Book Nook! This is my book blog and I hope you guys like it. As mentioned in my sidebar, I like reading young adult and fantasy novels. I had no plans of creating a book blog even though my friends kept saying that I should start one. I’m a reader, not a writer, I keep telling them. But then I started writing reading experiences and reviews of my favorite books in my LiveJournal in an effort to encourage more of my friends to read them. I’m not sure if it’s working though. When I signed up for Goodreads, I began writing short reviews right after I finish reading books so I thought I might post as well them in my blog. And then I started following other book bloggers and I enjoy exploring the blogosphere so I thought I might as well join in the fun.

I transferred over some entries from my LiveJournal but I’m still keeping that for personal use, my f-list and for commenting. Book-related posts though will be posted here. I’m going to keep things simple because I really don’t have the skillz to make an amazing website and I want to keep my reviews concise and spoiler-free. I’m not as witty or snarky as I’d like to be, I blame that on English being my second language, but as long as I can convey my thoughts, I think I’m good. I would love to get feedback on any of my posts so feel free to comment.

I have a list of Favorite Books with links to reviews of the books. I plan to write reviews on all of those book but I’m not sure when I’ll get around to everything. I keep track of the books that I read monthly and I list them down in this page: Book Count. Also on that page is a list of the challenges that I’m participating in and the books that I’ve read for those challenges.

While thinking of a name for a book blog, I asked my friends for some suggestions and these are some of the examples that they came up with:

Bookie Monster – too bad someone already uses this, I really thought it was cute
Book, Spine and Reader – a play on the phrase Hook, Line and Sinker; I thought of this but my friends thought that the play on words isn’t that obvious
Chachic’s Booktique – nice too but sounds like a store
Tibook ng Puso – another play on words, “tibok ng puso” is Filipino for “heartbeat” (direct translation is beat of the heart) and by adding an “o” in there, the word “book” is also present

I finally settled on Chachic’s Book Nook because I already signed up in WordPress for the username “chachic”. I also asked a graphic artist friend of mine to create a header for me but he’s been busy and I don’t want to be nuisance so it’s good that I found this theme here in WordPress, I think it’s nice enough for now.

So that’s it with the introduction. 🙂

  1. If English is your second language, then you come across very coherently, and I look forward to reading some of your reviews. As a writer, I unfortunately make too much fuss out of the correct or incorrect elements of a piece of text rather than just enjoying the meaning. Hard to combine the two sometimes, but we all need to start somewhere.
    Best wishes with your blog,
    SP

    • Aww thanks for that! I’m used to using English because that’s the medium of instruction in schools here but I know that I’m not as good with it as a native speaker. Thanks for dropping by my blog, I hope you can check out the reviews that I’ve posted. 🙂

Comments are like chocolate. :) Maraming salamat / thank you!
